Extreme Fishing for "Monster Goliath Grouper" aka(Jewfish). It's like hooking your rod to the bumper of a School Bus and driving off. Monster Goliath Grouper range from 100 to 600lbs and will "pull your arms off"!! These fish are caught in the Boca Grande pass on the docks as well as on the local wrecks. We use sting-rays for bait along with several other different species of fish. The bait we use usually weighs around 10 pounds. That will catch you a little goliath and if you think you man enough, throw over a whole stingray that is about three feet wide. Are you up for the Challenge? If you have any kind of back problems this is not for you. It takes two to three Captains on this type of charter, one that drives, and the other captains, well lets just say you better hope they have enough lead in there ass to keep you in the chair. We use 600 pound test mono fishing line on a 130lb class rod with a Penn 80w. Using mono line instead of cable or braid enables you to catch these monster grouper somewhat safely do to the mono stretches a long ways so when you break one off, the rod doesn't come back and knock you out. When you pull up to the structure your going to fish, we drop the bait over and hand line the bait until one bites, then there is a 250 horse Yamaha in reverse as hard as it will go trying to pull the fish out of the structure and you out of the chair. This is where you pray that the guys holding you in the chair are pretty strong.
